Terms of use
A draft, for review by a lawyer.
These terms apply to the RomboRide app and this website while they are in testing. They are short on purpose.
What RomboRide is
RomboRide is an app for planning motorcycle routes. It is in testing: we share it with riders we know, and it changes often. Features will change, some will go away, and sometimes things will break.
RomboRide is provided by Valton Pireci. How we handle your data is in the privacy policy.
You ride
You ride, and how you ride is your responsibility. The app never replaces your eyes on the road, the road signs or the traffic rules. Set up your route before you ride, and do not handle your phone while you ride. When the app and the road disagree, the road is right.
Routes, weather and passes can be wrong
Routes, riding times, weather, pass status and everything else the app shows are our best information, not a promise. Roads close, weather turns, forecasts are wrong, and a pass report is only as good as the last rider who sent it. Check the conditions yourself before you set off, and turn back when something looks wrong.
Your account
You can use much of the app without an account. Saving on your phone needs no account; keeping what you save on our server as well, so that it is on your other phones, needs one, and so do reporting a pass and downloading your data from our server. An account is for one person. Keep your password to yourself: what happens in your account is your responsibility.
Your data and what you create
Your data is yours. With an account, you can download everything our database holds about you, or delete your account, in the app; once you have asked for the deletion, the download is no longer available. The privacy policy says how, and what the download contains.
What you create, such as your routes and your notes, stays yours. By saving it you let us store it and show it to you; by writing a pass report, you let us show it to everyone who uses the app.
Fair use
Please use RomboRide as a rider would. The Sunday Button has a monthly meter, which the app shows you: do not try to get around it or to press it automatically. The same goes for routes, weather and pass reports: their limits are there so that the service stays fair for everyone.
What you write for others
Pass reports are public: the status, the time, the distance and your note are shown to everyone who uses the app. Write only what helps other riders: nothing personal, nothing unlawful, nothing hurtful. We may remove a note that breaks this.
No guarantee
While it is in testing, RomboRide comes as it is, without a guarantee that it always works or works without errors. We are liable as the law requires; nothing in these terms limits a liability that the law does not allow us to limit.
Stopping
You can stop using RomboRide at any time, and delete your account in the app. We may block an account that abuses the service or these terms, and we record why. We may also end the testing version; if we do, we will say so on this website and tell the riders we share it with directly, before it happens.
Changes to these terms
Before a change to these terms applies, we tell the riders we share the testing version with directly. The version and the date at the top always show the current text. If you do not agree with a change, you can stop using the app and delete your account.
